General Labor
Responsible for transporting trailers on city streets and highways, in and out of shipping yards, between local warehouses, factories, and customers. Responsibilities will encompass local and regional deliveries as well as assisting in yard movements as necessary. Identifies and reports to management equipment to be taken out of service due to needed repairs and/or breakdowns. Ensures that all registrations and insurance cards are current and displayed correctly in all vehicles.
All duties will be performed within the guidelines of the FMCSA.
Required Qualifications
- Class A license required.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience driving with Class A license and a clean DMV record.
- Past and current employer release forms for drug/alcohol testing.
- All candidates must be registered with the FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse.
Desired Qualifications
- Team oriented.
- Excellent Communication skills. English/Spanish Bi-lingual preferred but not required.
- A proven track record of results with a bias for action.
- A passion for learning and a craving to work in a fun culture.
- Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate up and down the organization.
- Ability to work a flexible work schedule (rotate shifts, weekend work, and possible overtime).
Responsibilities
- Maintain safety measures within the area of responsibilities.
- Able to safely multi-task.
- Able to work with minimal supervision and ability to think ahead.
- Able to read and comprehend BOL’S, labels and other instructional material.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of all-available tractors and trailers.
- Move trailers in a safe and timely manner on city streets, from staging to dock doors, to local warehouse, factory, and or customer.
- Ability to meet delivery/pickup appointment times daily.
- Able to climb in and out of yard tractor safely multiple times during a shift.
- Inspect all trailers at dock doors, verify they have load-locks, and are positioned correctly.
- Inspect all trailers not hooked up to a tractor, landing gear is secure and under trailer properly.
- Experience in refrigerated trailer environment and knowledge of requirements.
- Maintain good housekeeping practices for food grade trailers.
- Check fuel levels of incoming & outgoing tractors and trailers.
- Maintain daily logs of refer hours and miles for each unit.
- Keep the yard in good traffic condition.
- Conduct safety inspections on all equipment and report all damage and repairs needed to management.
- Make sure that all registrations and insurance cards are current and displayed correctly on all trailers and tractors.
Physical Requirements/Environment
- Be able to work in seasonal weather/warehouse conditions, hot and cold environments.
- Frequent standing walking, bending, twisting, lifting, climbing stairs.
- Normal vision, hearing sensitivity and manual dexterity is necessary in position.
