Overview
The City of Fairfield has an exciting opportunity to add to our exceptional Human Resources team. This newly added position has been designed to further advance our human resources business partner model and allow for further development of HRIS systems and HR tools. This is a generalist position involved in all functional areas of human resources, requiring the ability to build strong business relationships and serve as a trusted subject matter expert at all levels of the organization.

- Serving as a point of contact for employees, responding to inquiries and addressing concerns related to human resources policies, procedures, and programs.
- Managing the full-cycle recruitment process, including job postings, resume screening, interviewing, coordination with hiring managers, and conducting new employee orientations.
- Maintaining and supporting employee benefits programs by working closely with brokers, third-party administrators, and insurance carriers.
- Working directly with employees and our Workers’ Compensation TPA, ensuring necessary medical reports and forms are filed in a timely manner, answering employee questions on the administration and procedures related to our program.
- Maintaining Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and employee records, processes personnel actions and status changes.
- Processing invoices, check requisitions and purchase orders for the HR Office.
Skills & Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field.
- Minimum of three years of Human Resources experience.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with an ethical mindset.
- Substantial experience with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid driver’s license.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor s Degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field.
- Public Sector and Civil Service experience.
- Experience working with and interpreting union contracts.
- Ability to pivot and adapt to changing priorities.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Team player with the ability to work independently.
