Job OverviewThe Server (Dining Room Care Manager) is responsible for providing dining and table services to residents in the community’s dining rooms and designated areas in accordance with Sunrise Senior Living standards. The Server (Dining Room Care Manager) is responsible for serving as a role model in providing dining service and assisting training care managers, maintaining proper dining room setup, assisting in special events, monitoring appropriate checklists in support of the dining area cleanliness and readiness standards, and assisting in tabletop inventories maintenance.
Responsible for handling all food and beverages in accordance with sanitary procedures and standards and complies with all federal, state/provincial, and local regulatory procedures regarding food service.
Essential Duties
- Support the day-to-day operations of the dining room while maintaining a high quality, positive, and safe environment for residents and fellow team members.
- Provide dining service training to new care managers.
- Maintain knowledge of Daily and Always Available Menu items and provide general descriptions to residents.
- Assist residents with menu selections and answer questions about menu items.
- Take meal and beverage orders and serve items according to guidelines.
- Respond to the dining needs of residents while maintaining Sunrise hospitality and service standards.
- Attend pre-meal briefing to gain knowledge of the meal and meal support activities.
- Follow all local, state/provincial, and federal policies regarding food handling.
- Maintain standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and health standards.
General Dining Room
- Perform dining room checklist inspections for cleanliness and readiness and adjust as needed to maintain quality standards.
- Maintain side work duties as assigned.
- Keep assigned tables and surrounding areas clean, neatly presented, and ready for service.
- Ensure dining room setup and re-set of tables adheres to procedures.
- Support dining room decorum and etiquette standards.
- Complete opening and closing checklist criteria.
- Assist in tabletop inventories maintenance.
Resident Services
- Review and document entries in the Daily Log and protect resident information.
- Review Resident Diet Book-TSD or confidential chart as applicable.
- Maintain and protect the confidentiality of resident information.
Food Safety and Sanitation
- Practice safe food handling at all times to prevent foodborne illness.
- Complete daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning assignments.
- Maintain all work areas in a healthy and safe condition.
- Assist in dining room and surrounding areas for proper directional flow, organization, and supplies placement.
Risk Management and General Safety
- Collaborate with the community team to ensure compliance with national/provincial regulations related to occupational health and safety.
- Promote risk management programs and adhere to safety rules and PPE/SDS guidelines.
Training and Contributing to Team Success
- Participate as a team member and work toward team goals.
- Demonstrate our Team Member Credo in daily interactions.
- Commit to serving residents and guests through our Principles of Service.
- Contribute to engagement programs and processes.
- Attend regular meetings as directed by the Supervisor/Department Coordinator.
- Maintain compliance in required training and Sunrise standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience and Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Minimum of one year experience preferred in fine dining hospitality and/or full-service senior living
- Must be Food Safety Certified within 90 days of taking the position
- Maintain CPR and First Aid;
Serve Safe® certifications and ongoing training as required - All Sunrise team members who drive a Sunrise vehicle must sign the Driver job description and understand safety duties
