Food QA​/QC Tech

Overview

Food Microbiologist/QC Tech (Contract/Food Industry). Zing Recruiting, in partnership with an established food manufacturer in the Fairfield, NJ area is on the search for an experienced Microbiologist/QC Tech to join their flavor's production team on a contract basis.

Location:

Fairfield, NJ

Hours:

7am-3pm, M-F. Flexibility to work Saturdays when needed.

Pay Rate: $23-28hr

Assignment Length:
Temp-to-perm

• Perform daily microbiological testing (Yeast & Mold,
  
  E. coli, Total Aerobic Counts) using Petri film.
• Conduct bioburden and endotoxin testing on raw materials and finished products.
• Calibrate and maintain lab equipment (pH meter, salt meter, incubators, gas meter); troubleshoot issues as needed.
• Execute preventative maintenance, calibrations, and repairs for lab and manufacturing equipment.
• Ensure compliance with FDA and regulatory standards; update SOPs and manage deviations and investigations.
• Perform environmental swabbing (Listeria, Coliforms, Yeast & Mold) and conduct air monitoring using PDA media.
• Conduct pH testing and calibration with standard buffers (4, 7, 10).
• Operate moisture analyzer and salt meter for product quality checks.
• Approve production lines, verifying labels, expiration dates, and quality specifications.
• Monitor O2 and CO2 levels using a gas meter.

• Bachelor’s Degree (or Associate Degree) in microbiology, chemistry, food science, chemical engineering, or a related scientific discipline preferred.
• Prior experience with QA/QC within a food or flavor production/manufacturing environment.
