We are seeking an experienced Payroll Tax Specialist to join a growing organization and support complex, multi-state payroll tax operations. This role will focus on compliance, audit support, and payroll tax process improvement within a large, multi-state environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesDay-to-Day Payroll Tax Operations
Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, including resolving payroll tax error messages and employee withholding inquiries
Set up new payroll tax accounts and manage timely registration and closures
Respond to payroll tax-related tickets and compliance questions
Support payroll, field teams, and junior staff with tax compliance guidance
Audit payroll tax payments processed by the third-party payroll vendor for accuracy and completeness
Maintain payroll tax records in accordance with tax laws and best practices
Compliance & Audit Support
Gather documentation and collaborate with internal teams to support external audit requests
Assist with ADP service requests related to payroll tax compliance
Partner with Payroll Tax leadership to enhance internal audits and improve team processes
5+ years of hands-on payroll tax experience in a large, multi-state organization
Strong knowledge of multi-state and local payroll tax compliance (25+ states)
Experience with payroll systems such as ADP Vantage, ADP Workforce Now, or Ceridian Dayforce preferred
Understanding of payroll tax accounting and general ledger entries a plus
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and summarize findings clearly
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Experience working in matrixed organizations and influencing cross-functional stakeholders preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and HRIS/Payroll platforms required
