Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Energetics Design Engineer with a strong background in mechanical engineering to design, develop, and test energetic systems and components. The ideal candidate will combine mechanical design expertise with knowledge of pyrotechnic, propulsion, or energetic materials to deliver safe, reliable, and high-performance solutions for defense, aerospace, or industrial applications.
Key Responsibilities- Design, analyze, and prototype energetic devices (e.g., actuators, igniters, propulsion systems) using mechanical engineering principles.
- Perform mechanical stress, thermal, and dynamic analysis on energetic components to ensure safety and performance.
- Collaborate with chemists, electrical engineers, and systems engineers to integrate energeticsystems into broader platforms.
- Develop and execute tests and qualification procedures for energetic devices, including safety and environmental testing.
- Prepare and review technical drawings, specifications, and test reports.
- Ensure designs comply with regulatory, safety, and quality standards for handling and deployment of energetic materials.
- Support failure analysis and root cause investigations for existing components or systems.
- Maintain knowledge of current technologies, materials, and best practices in energetics and mechanical design.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 3+ years experience in mechanical design, preferably with exposure to energetics, pyrotechnics, or propulsion systems.
- Proficiency with CAD software (Solid Works, CATIA, or similar).
- Experience with FEA and mechanical analysis tools.
- Strong understanding of materials science, thermodynamics, and dynamics as applied to energetic systems.
- Knowledge of safety standards and regulations for energetic materials (e.g., ATF, DoD, OSHA).
- Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Prior experience with high-impact or high-acceleration testing.
- Familiarity with pyrotechnic initiators, pressure cartridges, or energetic actuators.
- Experience in cross-functional engineering teams.
- Strong analytical and technical skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Attention to detail with a focus on safety and quality.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
Salary: $120,000 - $130,000 per year
