Position: Accounting Clerk I

Job Title: Accounting / Check Processing Coordinator

Location: Fairfield, New Jersey

Position Type: Full-Time

A well-established New Jersey law firm focused on creditors’ rights and real estate‑related legal services is seeking a reliable and detail‑oriented professional to join our team in a clerical accounting support role.

This position assists with the daily processing and tracking of checks connected to legal matters handled by the firm. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys organized, process‑driven work, values accuracy, and takes pride in keeping financial records clean and well documented.

You will work closely with the accounting and operations teams to ensure payments are properly recorded, documented, and processed in a timely manner.

Responsibilities
  • Receive, review, and process checks associated with firm matters and client transactions
  • Enter financial information into internal systems and accounting software
  • Assist with general bookkeeping and light accounting support tasks
  • Scan, file, and organize financial and payment documentation
  • Reconcile records and assist with resolving discrepancies when necessary
  • Coordinate with accounting staff and internal teams to ensure proper handling of funds
  • Maintain strict confidentiality when handling financial and client information
Qualifications
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work with numbers and maintain accurate financial records
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel experience preferred)
  • Prior clerical, bookkeeping, banking, or accounting support experience is helpful
  • Ability to follow established procedures and maintain consistency in daily processes
  • Dependable, professional, and able to work independently when needed
