The Senior Accountant plays a key role in financial reporting, inventory accounting, and cost analysis for a growing manufacturing operation. This role supports the month-end close, partners with operations, and ensures the accuracy of financial statements, inventory valuation, and cost data. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, hands-on, and comfortable working cross-functionally in a plant or manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities- Lead components of the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close (journal entries, accruals, reconciliations)
- Support inventory accounting, including standard costing, variances, and valuation
- Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules in accordance with GAAP
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts including inventory, prepaid expenses, and fixed assets
- Assist with physical inventory counts and cycle count programs
- Collaborate with operations, supply chain, and production teams to understand cost drivers
- Support audits (internal & external) and maintain internal control compliance
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting related to cost of goods and operations
- Identify and support process improvement initiatives to improve accuracy and efficiencies
- Participate in ERP or financial system enhancements and implementations
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA or CMA a plus
- 3–6+ years of accounting experience, ideally within a manufacturing, CPG, industrials, or production environment
- Understanding of U.S. GAAP, inventory accounting, and cost accounting concepts
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Net Suite, Microsoft Dynamics, Infor, etc.)
- Strong Excel and data analysis skills
- Excellent organization, accuracy, and communication abilities
- Experience with standard cost builds, BOMs, and material/labor routings
- Exposure to operational KPIs (yield, throughput, downtime, capacity, etc.)
- Familiarity with physical inventory audits or cycle count environments
- Hands-on operator with strong attention to detail
- Curious, proactive, and comfortable learning plant operations
- Strong business-partner mindset with operations, supply chain, and production teams
- Ability to thrive in an evolving manufacturing environment
