The Research Manager will work within the Research Department, reporting to the Deputy Director of Research, to contribute to the advancement of iBRAIN’s multidisciplinary research agenda. The position will provide key support, oversight, coordination, and leadership in the design, execution, and reporting of relevant research as directed by the Deputy Director of Research. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in research and project management in a field related to iBRAIN’s core mission, such as neuroscience, psychology, social work, education, or medicine.

They will also possess exceptional organizational and communication skills, have a strong collaborative orientation, be experienced at training others, and be passionate about advancing the understanding of brain injuries and related disorders.

Responsibilities
  • Works under the supervision of the Deputy Director of Research and in close collaboration with the Research Team.
  • Provides support and leadership, as assigned, for a range of research projects conducted across campuses, including:
  • Developing research proposals and IRB applications on their own and in support of cross-disciplinary research teams;
  • Creating and monitoring project plans, including setting appropriate timelines and identifying relevant deliverables, to ensure timely completion of high-quality research projects;
  • Provides oversight for projects to ensure rigorous adherence to human subjects protections and the responsible conduct of research;
  • Working closely with the Para Managers to effectively integrate Research Assistant/Paraprofessionals (RA/Paras) into both ongoing and project-specific research initiatives, including providing necessary trainings and helping to monitor RA/Paras’ work for quality and on-time completion;
  • Collaborating closely with the Deputy Director of Research to identify strategic directions and opportunities to advance iBRAIN’s overall research agenda; and
  • Participating in public presentations of research and contributing to publications.
  • Provides mentorship to Postdoctoral Associates, Research Assistants, and Research Assistant/Paraprofessionals.
  • Collaborates closely with the Research Team, Related Service Providers, Special Education staff, and other departments as assigned to meet research goals.
  • Builds strong relationships with the students and staff on each campus.
  • Participates in regular group meetings, internal seminars, and ongoing professional development opportunities.
  • Participates in Grand Rounds, including preparing slides according to provided format, attending GR training meetings (ongoing), attending practice sessions (as scheduled), and giving formal GR presentations (quarterly or as assigned).
  • Completes annual iBRAIN Research Integrity training as well as designated CITI training modules for the protection of human subjects.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Research Department.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in neuroscience, psychology, social work, education, nursing, medicine, or related field is required.
  • Must have at least 3 years’ experience as a research manager or commensurate experience as a project manager.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be detail-oriented, focused, highly-motivated, and able to work as part of a team.
  • Proven ability in science communication (e.g., publications, presentations, etc.).
  • Possesses strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, including the ability to interact with multiple stakeholders with tact and diplomacy to ensure the highest quality outcomes for Research Department partnerships and projects.
  • Is able to work both independently and collaboratively.
