Data Management and Analysis | National Heart, Lung, and Blood InstitutePosition Overview
The Laboratory of Heart disease Phenomics at the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (Heart Disease Phenomics | NHLBI, NIH ) is seeking an experienced epidemiologist with expertise in data management and analysis. This position focuses on cardiovascular disease research and offers an opportunity to contribute to cutting‑edge epidemiology research that impact population health outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Design and implement comprehensive data management systems for cardiovascular disease epidemiological studies
- Conduct statistical analyses of complex datasets using advanced methodologies
- Develop data collection protocols and quality assurance procedures for cardiac disease surveillance
- Prepare technical reports, manuscripts, and presentations for scientific audiences
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary research teams
- Ensure compliance with data security, privacy regulations, and research ethics standards
- Provide epidemiological expertise to support research proposals and grant applications
- Education: PhD, DrPH, or ScD in Epidemiology, computational biology, statistics, data science, or related field
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of post‑doctoral experience in molecular epidemiological research
- Technical
Skills:- Advanced proficiency in statistical software (SAS, R, Stata, or Python)
- Expertise in database management systems (SQL, REDCap, or similar), multi‑site data harmonization and standardization
- Data governance and quality assurance methodologies
- Strong knowledge of epidemiological study designs and analytical methods
- Experience with large‑scale health datasets including EMR, real world and administrative data
- Other Requirements:
- Proven track record of peer‑reviewed publications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency may be required
- Experience with molecular epidemiology
- Experience with chronic disease research or clinical epidemiology
- Knowledge of cardiac risk factors, outcomes, and prevention strategies
- Familiarity with cohort studies
- Prior NIH, or federal agency experience including with federal research protocols and regulations
- Proficiency in data visualization tools (MS Power BI or Prism, etc.)
- Experience with machine learning or advanced modeling techniques
- Position Type: Full‑time contractor position
- Duration: Initial 1‑year contract with possibility of renewal
- Location: Bethesda, MD
- Compensation: Competitive, commensurate with experience
