WAIVER VALUATION SPECIALIST (REALTY SPECIALIST III)

Position OverviewThis role prepares waiver valuations for land acquisition, assists with appraisals, and supports the appraisal and negotiation units of the Land Acquisition Section.
Essential Functions- Prepares waiver valuations as assigned.
- Maintains records for waiver valuations, appraisals, and related information.
- Assists with appraisal preparation.
- Supports local public agency land acquisition certification reviews/approvals.
- Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules and fair treatment of all employees.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Two years of college majoring in engineering, construction management, or related fields plus two years of professional experience in real estate, surveying, title work, land acquisition, appraisal, negotiation, or property management; OR three years of professional experience in the same fields.
- Knowledge of waiver valuations, real estate appraisals, negotiations, property management, and relocation principles.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with property owners, attorneys, internal/external IDOT staff, and government officials.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Forty‑five hours of coursework in real estate appraisal.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Districtwide travel.
- Successful completion of a background screening.
- Certain revolving door restrictions apply; employees must notify the Office of the Executive Inspector General before accepting non‑State employment within one year of ending State employment.
