Janitor; Seasonal

General Responsibilities

Janitor provides cleaning services within Town buildings and grounds at Parks, Beaches and Field Bathrooms, completing tasks such as emptying trashcans, removing debris, wiping down/dusting doors, cleaning restrooms, sweeping, mopping, replenishing supplies and performing basic equipment repairs. This is a seasonal position working Thursday – Monday, April 15 – October 15.

• This job involves picking up and transporting waste to the Transfer Station using Town-owned vehicles.
• Maintain and clean the vehicles and equipment.
• Ensure a clean working environment
• Conduct weekly inventory of supplies and equipment needed to maintain sanitation
• Sweep and scrub floors, wax floors as required
• Clean sinks, bowls, fountains, and other sanitary stations
• Clean and polish floors, halls, and other areas
• Gather and empty trash from multiple facilities into dumpster/compactor
• Replenish tissue, towels, soap, and other sanitary stations
• Perform any other janitorial work necessary in connection with DPW operation
• Minimal maintenance of the outside grounds

• Able to work varied schedule as assigned
• Able to understand and follow oral and written instructions
• Able to lift 60 lbs.
• Able to work in hot and cold temperatures
• Able to work 40 hours a week on their feet, and climb numerous stairs
• Climbing, standing, stooping, bending, stretching and working in uncomfortable positions
• Exposure to prolonged periods of standing
• The diversity of working conditions may range from standard shop-type environment where there may be no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject individual to severe changes in temperature, wind, rain.
• Required to wear protective clothing and Personal Protective Equipment
• Must be able to respond to inquiries or complaints from residents, and communicate with others in a courteous and helpful way

• Clean driver's license
• High school diploma or GED is desirable and 1 year directly-related experience

• Thursday – Monday

• $19.00 per hour

• Non-Bargaining Unit, Seasonal Position
