The Patient Services Coordinator serves as the first point of contact for patients and families at the Dental Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) in Fairfield, CT. This role is responsible for coordinating patient scheduling, registration, check-in, insurance verification, and discharge documentation. Additional administrative tasks as assigned. The Coordinator provides excellent customer service and ensures smooth daily operations in collaboration with clinical and administrative staff.
ReportingRelationships
The Patient Services Coordinator reports to the Nurse Manager and partners closely with them on all clinical, quality, and patient safety matters.
Key Responsibilities- Greet patients and families, provide information, and answer inquiries.
- Manage patient registration, check-in, and check-out processes.
- Verify insurance information and collect co-pays or self-pay balances.
- Schedule and confirm appointments in the ASC scheduling system.
- Coordinate patient flow with pre-op and clinical staff to minimize delays.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure HIPAA compliance.
- Provide administrative support, including phone calls, filing, and correspondence.
- Assist with daily reports, logs, and quality/compliance documentation as requested.
- High school diploma or equivalent required;
Associate’s degree preferred. - Prior experience in medical or dental office, ASC, or hospital front desk role preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance verification, and scheduling systems.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and work collaboratively with clinical staff.
- Professionalism and strong interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
- Ability to remain calm and supportive in stressful situations.
- Commitment to patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
