Overview
Medical Office Assistant needed in a fast-paced gastroenterology practice to provide exceptional patient care and support smooth office operations and patient experience.
Responsibilities- Schedule procedure and office visit appointments in line with established policies and scripting.
- Update insurance and demographic information when scheduling appointments.
- Obtain cardiac clearance for patients scheduled for procedures when necessary and ensure documentation is obtained.
- Assist with general office functions as requested by supervisors or managers, supporting other staff members to ensure proper patient care.
- Answer incoming phone lines, take clear messages, and route them to the correct provider or employee.
- Compose, process, and follow up on electronic messages and alerts.
- Maintain familiarity with providers preferred preparation procedures.
- Proficiency in customer service and healthcare-related tasks.
- Experience with inbound calls, medical scheduling, and patient scheduling.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, EPIC, and electronic medical records (EMR).
- Ability to verify insurance and schedule appointments.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 2 years of related experience required.
- Proficiency in EPIC.
- Medical office experience is required; GI experience is a plus.
Work within a busy outpatient GI medical practice, providing top-notch patient care. The schedule offers up to 24 hours a week, with flexibility to work on busy days such as Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 7:45 AM to 5:00 PM. The environment is fast-paced, with multiple calls and patient interactions daily. The ideal candidate will be warm, inviting, and a strong team player, dedicated to ensuring that all patients receive the highest level of care.

This is a permanent position based out of Fairfield, CT.
Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $24.00/hr.
