Position: Surgical Scheduler - Urogynecology (Mon/Wed 8am-12pm, Tues/Thurs 12pm-4pm)

Surgical Scheduler – Urogynecology (Mon/Wed 8am-12pm, Tues/Thurs 12pm-4pm) – Smilow Cancer Hospital

Join the Surgical Scheduler team at Smilow Cancer Hospital and play a vital role in coordinating surgeries, ensuring compliance with registration, insurance authorizations, and HIPAA requirements. You will act as a liaison between patients and medical staff, advise patients on surgical pre‑operative steps, and schedule necessary appointments.

Responsibilities
  • Pre‑Operative Tasks
    • Contact patients to schedule surgical procedures in a courteous and professional manner
  • Coordinate surgical procedures with Hospital Operating Rooms or Surgical Centers
    • Verify receipt of medical and/or cardiac clearance
  • Post‑Operative Follow Up Care
    • Schedule follow‑up appointments
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance
  • All other duties as assigned
  • May assist and/or perform chaperone duties for patient medical procedures as needed
Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma or GED required
  • Experience: 2–3 years in a hospital or physician office with emphasis on registration, surgical scheduling, medical billing, and insurance eligibility requirements
  • Special

    Skills:

    Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office, EPIC or other EMR platforms; excellent interpersonal skills; knowledge of medical insurance terminology, CPT and ICD‑10 codes; ability to work independently and as part of a team; strong time management and organizational ability; excellent verbal and written communication; detail oriented and multi‑tasking with problem‑solving skills
