We are currently seeking a Scientist/Associate for our Polymers and Chemistry Practice in Shanghai, China. In this role you will work as part of a team to brainstorm and innovate solving real world industrial problems. The role involves extensive collaboration with scientists and engineers across Exponent’s global network of offices. We expect the position to be a great opportunity for candidates to apply their expertise built through advanced studies.
A long-term goal for successful candidates is to build their own expertise in an industrial field, as well as to generate and develop unique business opportunities for the firm.
- Analyzing scientific information, testing, and inspections to address polymer and material science matters related to the use of materials in applications in areas such as consumer products, electronics, pharmaceuticals, and medical devices
- Developing investigation plans using a variety of analytical equipment
- Analyzing the root cause of a wide variety of polymeric material failures related to issues arising in development, manufacturing, or use of products, and providing failure prevention strategies
- Writing technical reports and written analysis for litigation matters
- Gathering and researching information from and conveying technical conclusions to professionals in engineering, business, law, and industry
- Ph.D. in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, or a related field
- Written and verbal fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese
- In-depth knowledge of Materials science and Engineering
- Excellent hands-on engineering skills with an emphasis on polymer/chemical characterizations
- Ability to clearly communicate findings through written reports and presentations
- Ability to work within project teams with strong desire to contribute; have potential for technical and project managerial leadership
- Must be able to convey complex technical information to individuals in engineering, business, legal and related industries
- Excellent problem-solving abilities
- Strong educational and publication credentials
- This is a Shanghai, China-based position. The successful applicant must live in or be willing to relocate to Shanghai, China
