JOB SUMMARY

The Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer is responsible for supporting Large Form Assembly (LFA) mechanical manufacturing operations by developing, sustaining, and improving mechanical assembly processes. This role focuses on the creation and maintenance of mechanical work instructions, value-added optimization, and the application of Design for Assembly (DFA) and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles specific to large, complex mechanical systems. The position specializes in mechanical layouts, structural assemblies, piping and hose routing, fastener strategies, and tolerance control while ensuring alignment between engineering documentation and manufacturing execution.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop, review, and maintain mechanical manufacturing documentation including work instructions, assembly drawings, exploded views, torque specifications, bill of materials, and process flow documentation.
  • Review mechanical designs and drawings to ensure manufacturability, accessibility, and alignment with production capabilities, tooling, and material handling constraints.
  • Define and standardize mechanical assembly methodologies including fastening strategies, torque control, seal interfaces, alignment methods, and workmanship standards.
  • Support layout and installation of mechanical subassemblies such as frames, enclosures, heat exchangers, piping, hoses, brackets, and structural components.
  • Develop and optimize mechanical build sequences to improve safety, ergonomics, takt time, and OLE (Overall labor efficiency).
  • Partner with Industrial, Manufacturing, Electrical, and Test Engineering to improve overall assembly flow, station balance, and defect reduction.
  • Provide hands-on manufacturing support and troubleshooting for mechanical build issues including fit-up, tolerance stack-ups, interference, leakage points, and rework drivers.
  • Support equipment commissioning, FAT/SAT, and system acceptance activities related to mechanical integration and manufacturing readiness.
  • Maintain accurate and controlled mechanical documentation throughout NPI, production ramps, and sustaining phases.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, safety, cost reduction, and standardization of mechanical assembly processes.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve structural integrity, reliability, and total cost of ownership.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in mechanical manufacturing, industrial equipment assembly, or related engineering roles.
  • Strong experience reading, reviewing, and interpreting mechanical drawings, GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, and assembly prints.
  • Hands‑on experience with mechanical assembly processes including structural builds, piping/hose installation, and fastener application.
  • Experience developing manufacturing documentation such as work instructions, standard work, and visual aids.
  • Familiarity with torque tools, fixturing, lifting devices, and mechanical assembly aids.
  • Working knowledge of applicable mechanical and safety standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO, ASME, torque and pressure safety practices).
  • Experience supporting NPI and production builds, including issue resolution and documentation updates.
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS
  • Strong understanding of mechanical manufacturing methodologies and large‑form mechanical…
