Job Title: PV&V Electrification Test Engineer
Location: Fargo, ND 58102
Assignment Length: 12 Months + Possible Extension
Position Type: Contract / Contingent
Pay Rate: Hourly on W2 (All-Inclusive on SGS Payroll; Does Not Include PTO/Holiday Pay)
Shift: 1st Shift
Work Environment: 100% Onsite
Safety Requirement: Metatarsal boots required from Day 1
This role supports Product Verification & Validation (PV&V) testing for electrification and power electronics systems. The Test Engineer will work with cross-functional design teams to define testing requirements, operate lab equipment, analyze test data, and support validation of client and OEM products.
Key Responsibilities- Gather and format test requirements from internal and external customers with guidance from senior team members
- Review test requirements and provide feedback to ensure clarity and completeness
- Perform and support power electronics PV&V testing conducted internally or through external partners
- Execute test procedures including motor characterization, battery testing, JDQ tests, and reporting
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of test results and schedule progress
- Communicate testing results and status updates to internal and external stakeholders
- Apply troubleshooting and debugging methods to identify root causes with team support
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional project teams to ensure testing meets product specifications
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with customers and internal teams
- Travel domestically 1–2 times per year as required to support testing or customer meetings
- Support additional departmental needs as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or Industrial Engineering from an accredited program
- Equivalent engineering education or experience may be considered
- Understanding of embedded controller fundamentals
- Knowledge of safe high-voltage practices
- Understanding of motor control systems and system-level testing
- Familiarity with design validation principles
- Strong written and verbal communication skills (English)
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities
- Customer-focused mindset with strong teamwork skills
- Understanding of motor control software (PU2)
- Experience working with dynamo meters (dynos)
- Experience using development and debugging tools such as oscilloscopes and multimeters
- Experience with microcontroller peripherals (PWM, A/D converters, boot loaders, serial/parallel interfaces)
- Familiarity with communication networks such as CAN, Ethernet, RS-232/485
