Hexcel is currently seeking an Early Career Program – Research Scientist for our Decatur, AL location.

• Provide insights into fundamental processes associated with polymerization and spinning processes of carbon fiber precursors
• Develop models that describe the structure property relationship between polymer, carbon fiber precursor, and carbon fiber
• Characterize precursor fiber with state-of-the-art polymer and fiber characterization techniques
• Develop new precursor technologies that enhance carbon fiber properties

• PhD in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science and Engineering, or related field.
• Performed research with hands‑on experience in at least one of the following areas: chemical reactor design, chemical process engineering, polymer physical chemistry, polymerization processes, or fiber spinning. Industrial experience is preferred.
• Candidates must have less than 3 years of work experience (excluding intern & co‑op experience).
• Analytical background and skills.
• Self‑starter with demonstrated leadership potential
