The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) is seeking a Workforce Development Education & Outreach (WDEO) Intern.
You will join a dynamic team that engages with Texas businesses, workforce partners, schools, and communities to market the funding and programs that boost the Texas workforce. These include Apprenticeship, Adult Education & Literacy, Tri-Agency & Special Projects, Employer Engagement & Community Outreach, and the Texas Veteran’s Leadership Program.
The WDEO Intern reports to the Deputy Division Director for Workforce Education & Outreach and will have the opportunity to work with staff across the Department.
Who We Are:TWC connects people with careers all over the state. While we are headquartered on the north lawn of the Texas State Capitol in Austin, we have offices statewide.
This internship will be located at 1117 Trinity Street in downtown Austin, TX. The intern will report to the office for a 20-hour/week internship.

This will be a comprehensive internship where you will get exposed to different areas of Workforce Education and Outreach. You will be integrated into the program operations that support workforce training and education. These may include working with grants and funding, assisting with briefs and reports, participation in agency partnership activities, conducting outreach, and working on special projects. You will also participate in team building and strategic planning activities.
You will receive direction and mentorship from the Deputy Division Director for Workforce Development Education and Outreach. You may work collaboratively with other interns or assist with projects or tasks from other WDEO Leadership.
What You’ll Earn:This is a part-time internship (20hr/week) and pays $1,386.18 per month.
What You’ll Learn:This is a great internship for a graduate student who is interested in program management, grants, policy, and wants to gain experience in state government.
What You Need to Get Hired:- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university in education, business, policy, communications, or related field
- Current enrollment in a master’s or doctoral program
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Ability to be flexible and accountable
