The Special Education Teacher will work with special needs children in a self-contained cognitive-moderate classroom, serving students with moderate intellectual disabilities. The teacher will work with children who need individualized, slower-paced instruction comparative to the general education rooms, providing a functional/life-skills based approach to learning.

The

Schedule:

• Monday through Friday
• 8:00am to 3:00pm

The Responsibilities:

• Curriculum: create lessons based on student IEPs related to functional academics (reading, writing, everyday math), daily life skills (hygiene, meal prep), and social skills
• Instructional Strategy: modify curriculum to provide individualized support to children in small group or one-on-one instructional settings
• Communication: use visual aids, manipulatives, and assistive technology to assist in student academic success
• Environmental Configuration: foster a positive and comfortable working environment for children by offering flexible seating arrangements and designating special spaces for various activities
• Collaboration: effectively communicate with classroom personnel, school staff, and parents

What’s

Required:
