ELLI Infant Assistant Educator

Job Overview

Early Language and Literacy Initiative (ELLI) is an interdisciplinary approach to early childhood education designed to close the early learning achievement gap by embedding developmentally appropriate language and literacy into STEAM content. ELLI educators provide comprehensive, play‑based learning experiences for children from birth to age 5. They facilitate the curriculum while maintaining frequent contact with parents and families and manage classroom operations to ensure a safe and stimulating environment.

• Support daily classroom operations in compliance with NAEYC, state, and local laws and regulations.
• Plan and implement ELLI‑aligned immersive learning experiences, following a structured curriculum and embracing children’s capabilities.
• Supervise classroom staff, support their professional growth by sharing materials and information, and model effective strategies.
• Ensure the health and safety of children under active supervision at all times.
• Support families in achieving learning outcomes by welcoming and connecting through conferences, workshops, parent events, and daily interactions.

• Associate’s degree in early childhood education or related field with at least 12 credits in child development or early childhood education.
• Minimum one year experience of professional childcare experience.
• Working knowledge of Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards or comparable standards framework.
• Computer skills including Microsoft Office; proven ability to learn new systems and software.
• Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
• Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.

Salary: $17.50–$19.50 per hour.
