PositionCamp Winnebago is seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Horticulture / Gardening Teacher to lead our gardening program for the Summer 2026 season. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children, teaching hands-on skills, and caring for both outdoor and greenhouse gardens.
Position OverviewThe Horticulture / Gardening Teacher is responsible for managing Camp Winnebago’s outdoor garden and greenhouse while teaching campers the fundamentals of horticulture through engaging, age-appropriate, hands-on experiences.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain and care for the outdoor garden and greenhouse
- Plan and lead daily gardening and horticulture lessons for campers
- Teach campers about planting, soil health, watering, composting, and plant care
- Create a fun, inclusive learning environment for campers of all experience levels
- Encourage curiosity, responsibility, and connection to the natural world
- Ensure safe use of tools and materials
- Collaborate with other program staff and camp leadership
- Experience in gardening, horticulture, or a related field
- Experience working with children or in an educational setting
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Patient, flexible, and enthusiastic teaching style
- Prior camp experience is a plus, but not required
