X is seeking a Missions Intern to support the planning, coordination, and execution of Ocean
X’s global expeditions and initiatives. This role provides hands‑on exposure to mission planning processes, cross‑functional collaboration, and operational workflows that support science, media, education, and partnership efforts.
Working closely with the Missions team, the intern will assist with organizing information, maintaining systems, supporting meetings and reporting, and contributing to special projects that enhance operational effectiveness. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated student or recent graduate interested in ocean exploration, operations, logistics, or mission‑driven work to gain experience in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.
This program will run from June through August and involves working approximately 40 hours per week. This opportunity operates on a hybrid work schedule in our NYC office to allow for in‑person meetings/collaboration.

Duties and Responsibilities- Support the Missions team with day‑to‑day mission planning and coordination activities across multiple projects
- Organize and maintain mission‑related documentation, including folders, trackers, notes, schedules, and other records throughout the mission lifecycle
- Schedule meetings, assist with agenda preparation, capture meeting notes, track action items, and support follow‑up communications
- Cross‑check documentation and paperwork requirements; update data and systems to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Coordinate with internal teams (Science, Media, Education, Partnerships, Marine Operations) to gather information and support mission needs
- Assist with internal reporting by compiling status updates, timelines, and project summaries
- Support special projects focused on process improvement, documentation, and operational efficiency
- Conduct research and information gathering to support mission planning and post‑mission evaluations
- Provide general administrative and operational support to the Missions team as needed
- Actively pursuing an undergraduate degree in operations management, project management, environmental science, marine science, international relations, communications, business, or a related field.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast‑paced environment
- Comfortable working with ambiguity and learning new systems and processes
- Discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive or confidential information
- Determined, resourceful and practical. An independent, self‑starter, with a “roll up your sleeves” attitude and strong work ethic

Compensation for the role consists of a $20/hour wage. This position is eligible for statutory benefits only.
