Position Summary

The Senior Accountant plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of the Company's financial records. This position is responsible for managing core accounting activities including general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, and month-end close. The Senior Accountant works independently and partners with Finance leadership and cross-functional teams to support financial reporting, strengthen internal controls, and drive continuous process improvement within a consumer packaged goods (CPG) operating environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Prepare and review journal entries to ensure accurate general ledger reporting.

• Lead and support month-end and year-end close activities in accordance with established timelines.

• Prepare, review, and maintain balance sheet and income statement account reconciliations.

• Analyze financial results, investigate variances, and provide clear explanations to management.

• Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and internal control requirements.

• Support external audit activities, including preparation of schedules and responding to auditor inquiries.

• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and efficiency; recommend and implement enhancements.

• Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve accounting issues and support business initiatives.

• Review and reconcile inventory-related accounts, including inventory reserves and accruals.

• Review and reconcile trade spend, promotional accruals, and related reserves to ensure accurate financial reporting.

• Prepare and review accruals related to cost of goods sold, freight, and operational expenses.

• Assist with special projects and ad hoc financial analysis as assigned.
Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required. 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a consumer packaged goods (CPG) or similar environment.
Qualifications & Skills

• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and general accounting principles.

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, formulas, and data analysis.

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

• High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and exercise sound professional judgment.

• Proven experience improving accounting processes and strengthening internal controls.
