Position SummaryThe Project Accounting Manager oversees and ensures that Project Accounting aligns to project procedures, corporate and client requirements, including complying with state and federal regulations. This role is responsible for managing a variety of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable procedures from subcontractor/vendor invoice/payment processing to client billing. Project Accounts Payable management includes staffing Accounts Payable Accountants/Clerks to support the project, addressing issues and concerns to ensure that subcontractor/vendor invoices are continuously paid timely and according to agreement.
Project Accounts Receivable management includes preparing, submitting, and substantiating client billings, recording receivables in E‑1, meeting quarter‑end and year‑end closing requirements, making general ledger entries, cost transfers where applicable and meeting project reporting needs. The role includes auditing of project billings, tracking fiscal goals and ensuring congruency of standard operating procedures on behalf of the company and in line with GAAP standards.
This role reports to the Corporate Controller and works with the financial leadership team. The position is located fully on site near Amarillo, TX.
- Assist setting up project accounting procedures in E‑1 according to project requirements.
- Creating a team to support the project in compliance with the project requirements.
- Orient staff with Hoffman policies, accounting procedures, and project requirements.
- Ensure staff has all appropriate hardware/software and IT permissions.
- Implement training process for staff in Hoffman and client processing requirements.
- Coordinate and assist resolution of concerns/issues arising from accounts payable team.
- Training and management of site accounting team to ensure compliance and development of new staff aligns with company goals and standards.
- Create opportunities for Team Building and camaraderie.
- Ensure that client billing procedures are in place to bill client timely and according to contract.
- Work with client and third‑party auditor to resolve any billing concerns.
- Ensure that subcontractor/vendor payments are made accurately, timely upon receipt of client funding, according to state statute.
- Support corporate accounting with annual financial audit and project‑based contract compliance audits.
- Provide outstanding service through timely and effective follow‑ups and communications with both internal and external customers.
- Provide back‑up to project staff and cross‑train in other accounting areas/activities.
- Support project departments and provide data requests as needed.
- 5+ years of experience in similar role at a large commercial general contractor.
- Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Teams, etc. and ability to work well within a network environment.
- Ability to function in a deadline‑oriented environment.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work between a variety of departments.
- Strong team player, self‑starter, flexible, and able to work well with a variety of personalities with minimal instruction and supervision.
- Highly organized.
- Experience leading accounting operations on large complex construction program.
- Advanced Excel skillset.
- Experience/working knowledge of accounting software JD Edwards Enterprise One or similar ERP software.

Must be able to climb stairs – 5% of day. - Hands/Arms:
Constant use of hands/fingers for mouse/keyboard/computer use. - Vision:
Visual acuity in near, mid, and far range vision. Color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, hand/eye coordination. - Hearing:
Sufficient to hear conversational levels in person and over the telephone. - Speech:
Sufficient to make oneself heard in person, speak in front of groups, and be understood over the telephone and radio. - Kneeling/Crouching/Crawling:
Minimal. - Ability to get around and function in a temporary construction site situation.
