Social Services Supervisors plan, organize, and supervise the work of a unit of social workers providing adult and/or child protective services, licensing, adoptions, dependency investigations, information and referral, and other social services; provides administrative oversight and supervision to allied medical, mental health, and substance professional staff assigned to the unit and performs related duties as required.
The Social Services Supervisor is the first level supervisor for social workers providing a variety of adult and/or children’s services. The position will supervise both administrative and technical groups of social workers and may provide administrative supervision over medical, mental health, and substance abuse professional staff under a system of matrix management.
The eligible list established from this recruitment will be used to fill part-time and full-time regular, limited-term or extra-help positions as vacancies occur or the need arises. For positions in Child Welfare Services, candidates with Child Welfare experience will be certified prior to other qualified applicants, in accordance with Civil Service Rule 7.01(B)
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Either:
Criteria I:
Equivalent to graduation from a four-year accredited college or universityAND
Seven years of experience performing professional level social work with a public social services agency or private social services provider.
OR
Criteria II:
Possession of a Master’s degree in Social Services (MSW)
OR a two-year graduate level counseling degreeAND
Five years post degree experience performing professional level social work with a public social services agency or private social services provider.
