Our Community and Psychosocial Services are seeking a motivated and experienced Family Navigator
who will play a critical role in delivering trauma-informed, culturally safe, and holistic support to children and young people who have displayed problematic or harmful sexual behaviours and their families.
About this opportunity
Reporting to the Community and Clinical Practice Lead and working closely with the Child & Family Therapist, the Family Navigator will focus on early engagement, reducing barriers to service access, and ensuring continuity of care through proactive outreach, advocacy, and warm referrals. The role will coordinate care across multiple systems including schools, youth justice, child, and community organisations, while building trust with families and strengthening local partnerships to improve integrated support pathways.
The role ensures that both the child and their caregiving environment are supported through a socio-ecological, evidence-informed approach that addresses individual, family, and community needs.
You will bring the following essential attributes and skills to this role:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social sciences, Social work or related fields
- Minimum of two years’ experience providing case management and clinical support to children, young people and their families, which included safety planning and managing risky behaviours.
- Demonstrated understanding of, or willingness to train in, the Minimum Practice Standards for Specialist and Community Support Services Responding to Child Sexual Abuse and the upcoming National Clinical and Therapeutic Framework for Responding to Children and Young People with Harmful Sexual Behaviour.
- A current NDIS Worker Screening Check or willingness to acquire.
- A current Working with Children Check or willingness to acquire.
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates
- Valid Class C NSW Driver’s licence and vehicle
- A high level of communication skills with the capacity to work with culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

Proficiency in facilitating dialogue, mediating disputes, and managing conflicts. - Ability to work as a team member and with a high degree of autonomy.
- Strong computer and IT literacy skills, in MS Word and MS Excel.
- Able to establish and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrate a commitment to Work Health and Safety and Fair Foundations Cultural Diversity Principles.
