At North Bay Health the Systems Engineer II - Security is responsible for the administration and security of a complex multi-platform systems configuration as well as providing, assistance to the Technical Services team and other levels of staff under the direction of the Director Network Infrastructure and Operations for various projects, upgrades and implementations. This position is primarily responsible for the roles of Security Engineer, providing security administration for all systems and supported applications within IT.
This position interacts with all levels of the hospital administrative and medical/clinical staff and works with the department’s Technical, Helpdesk, Operational and Applications support staff. The incumbent ensures regular review of system alerts provided by the MSSP, through the use of System Information and Event Management (SIEM) software. Interacts with the system customers and understands the role of the systems and stakeholders as they relate to the general organizational environment.

Education- Four-year degree in Information Technology, with an emphasis on System Security or equivalent work experience preferred
- Current technical certifications in Windows-based support preferred.
- Certification or course work in I.T. security preferred
- The position requires a valid California driver's license.
- 7 years of experience in an information technology role providing direct customer support.
- 5 years of experience as a system administrator for windows-based systems
- 4 years of experience as an IT Security System Engineer
- Experience in health care information technology preferred
- Familiarity with internal/external network vulnerability scanning tools like Nessus.
- Experience with Cybersecurity Frameworks (CSF) like NIST 800-53
, ISO
27000, MITRE ATTACK, NIST 800-171 - Experience with XDR, Email gateway, file auditing, SIEM
- Experience with network security tools and policy review and writing.
- Experience with SQL, Linux, Powershell scripting, and Exchange.
- Advanced knowledge of security principles, system administration standards including backup & recovery, security administration, performance analysis & tuning, capacity planning, hardware and O/S maintenance
- Experience with Multifactor Authentication (MFA)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills as it relates to security issues
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
- Experience working with ITIL framework
- Ability to manage multiple complex problems under pressure while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor
- Expert knowledge of security computer fundamentals, computer security operations, network security, telecommunications systems, and help desk methodologies
- Should also have a general knowledge of the healthcare business and information systems as they affect the clinician’s workflow.
- Must work independently with minimal direction/supervision
- Requires dedicated attention to detail as well as the ability to maintain confidentiality of security-related information and investigations.
- Ability to evaluate security policies for modifications and changes as it applies to current security posture requirements
- Advance knowledge of HIPAA and information security policies, procedures, and technical systems in order to maintain the confidentiality,integrity, and availability of NBHS healthcare information systems
