Overview

Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, this position serves as the key liaison between the College's Banner Users and the Technology Services and Support (IT) Department. This position provides support and training for the College's Banner System as well as other technological tools used within the District.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other job related duties may be assigned.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as primary Banner support for the College.
  • Assist end-users in understanding and applying technology resources and processes within Banner, Canvas, and other software applications.
  • Work closely with functional area groups to identify software efficiencies and deficiencies. Recommend detailed changes and modifications to administrative software including Banner and Canvas.
  • Make recommendations to the College for changes in processes that involve Banner to improve accuracy and efficiency of data.
  • Provide training workshops for the College community in the use of Banner, Canvas and other Solano supported technologies.
  • Develop end-user documentation and training (written and video) materials for Banner, Canvas, and other College technology tools.
  • Participate along with other technology staff in the testing and validating of software patches/upgrades.
  • Coordinate testing sessions for the College's various functional area groups to ensure that Banner updates and new technologies are thoroughly tested and evaluated.
  • Coordinate with end-users for the design and development of reporting tools.
  • Support District IT and Technology Services staff in regulatory and compliance activities.
  • Maintain a variety of records, files and reports related to the Technology Services Department.
Secondary Functions
  • Perform various clerical duties in support of Technology Services & Support including responding to Helpdesk and student call center requests and providing Departmental clerical support including and tracking purchase requisitions.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

Associate Degree or any combination or training, experience, and/or education that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

And

Experience in a college or university working with Banner in one or more functional areas (Admissions, Financial Aid, HR or Finance) and experience in documenting and presenting processes, procedures, or business practices related to using Banner.

And

Knowledge and experience using one or more of these software products or similar:
Degree Works, Luminis, Evisions Argo's.

Communication Skills
  • Ability to develop and present training sessions for Banner, Canvas, and other relevant technology.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business procedures, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators and other employees, students, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to apply common sense and understanding in carrying out instructions provided in writing, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to exercise good judgement and discretion in handling confidential, difficult and sensitive information.
