Position: Psychiatric Technician (In-Patient)

Overview

Matrix Providers is hiring a Psychiatric Technician (In-Patient) to join our team of professionals who provide healthcare services to U.S. Military Service Members and their families at the David Grant Medical Center in Travis AFB, CA
.

Responsibilities
  • Participates in patient care conferences and substance abuse intervention.
  • Provides mental health and substance abuse prevention education.
  • Maintains therapeutic relationships.
  • Conducts in-service training.
  • Receives patients and schedules appointments. Evaluates mental health service activities.
  • Collects and updates administrative and statistical data.
  • Conducts unit self-assessments.
  • Compiles and prepares medical and administrative reports. Briefs patients on safety and evacuation procedures.
  • Implements precautionary measures to prevent patient injury or suicide; may apply manual/physical restraints as required.
  • Serves on committees and participates in meetings; contributes to decision-making and process improvement; supports customer service initiatives and medical readiness activities; ensures a safe work environment and patient safety per regulatory agencies and infection control policies.
  • Conducts or assists in treatment and rehabilitation of patients. Performs initial basic assessment procedures including standardized psychological testing, clinical interviewing, and mental status examinations; conducts substance abuse evaluations and related nursing assessments.
  • Identifies mental health and nursing diagnoses and provides patient education.
  • Observed, monitors, records, and reports patient progress.
  • Conducts or assists in group and individual counseling and other related milieu activities.
  • Assists patients with nutritional, hygiene, and comfort measures; obtains and records vital signs.
  • Coordinates with other agencies regarding care, treatment, prevention, rehabilitation, and administrative functions. Obtains collateral information from military and community agencies; explains mental health services to patients or others.
  • Arranges patient referrals to public, private, and military community services.
  • Prepares and maintains records and reports pertaining to specialty services.
  • Assists with care of individuals experiencing acute and post-traumatic stress reactions.
  • Prepares and maintains treatment records.

Qualifications
  • Requirements: The Psychiatric Technician must have and meet the following:
  • Degree:
    Possess and maintain a current, unrestricted license to practice as a Psychiatric Technician in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands OR possess at least a level one national Psychiatric Technician certification or equivalent OR possess and maintain a current, unrestricted license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse/Licensed Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN) in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico,…
