Psychologist-Clinical, Correctional Facility, California Health Care Facility (CHCF) in Vacaville, CA (Solano County). This is a Part Time – 7/10 Time (0.70), 28 hours per week position. The advertised monthly salary range is $8,047.20 to $9,755.90.
Job Description And DutiesUnder the general direction of the Senior Psychologist, Correctional Facility (Supervisor), the Psychologist-Clinical is responsible for preadmission screenings, psychologist evaluation of inmates admitted to the program, crisis intervention, individual therapy, treatment and discharge planning, participating in interdisciplinary team evaluations, and consulting with the psychiatrist, nursing and other staff. The psychologist may be assigned other clinical duties, including participation in staff meetings, institutional committees, and consults with custody staff as well as supervision and training to students, interns, unlicensed psychologists and other staff.
The psychologist may also participate in program evaluation and research, and may provide consultation on research design and analysis of data.
The position may include program-specific duties and collaboration across departments to support rehabilitation, mental health care, and reintegration efforts, in alignment with the California Model and facility policies.
Minimum QualificationsLicense:
Possession of a valid license as a Psychologist issued by the California Board of Psychology and possession of an earned Doctorate Degree in Psychology from an educational institution meeting the criteria of Section 2914 of the Medical Board of California's Business and Professions Code. Individuals who do not qualify for licensure by the California Board of Psychology or who are in the process of securing this license may be admitted into the examination and may be appointed, but must secure a valid license within three years of appointment or the employment shall be terminated.
For part-time employees, extensions of licensure waivers may be granted proportional to part-time employment, but not exceeding five years. Unlicensed individuals recruited from outside California who qualify for licensure may be appointed for a maximum of two years, after which licensure must be obtained. Applicants within six months of degree completion may be admitted into the examination but will not be eligible for appointment until degree and internship are completed.

This position reports to the California Correctional Health Care Services (CCHCS) and is subject to applicable pay scales and hiring processes. Recruitment and retention incentives and stipends may be available in accordance with program rules. A $5,000 referral bonus may be offered to CDCR/CCHCS employees who are selected for hire and remain employed for 90 days. The authorized HAM (Hiring-Above-Minimum) rate for this classification is Range P $11,161 and Range Q $13,531.
