Hypothermia Program Facilitator.

Part-Time / NON-EXEMPT / Temporary.
Reports to:
Hypothermia Coordinator.
Hypo facilitators would work part-time at assigned hypothermia venues to maintain a safe environment and ensure that the unsheltered homeless have a safe place to stay and a warm meal. The Program Facilitators will assist FACETS Adults Only Case Managers with providing case management services, leading life skills groups, and connecting guests to services. Hypothermia shifts are 5pm - 11:30pm or 11:30pm - 7:30am.
Hypo season starts on 11/30/2025 and ends on 4/1/2026.
- Establishes contact and builds rapport with homeless individuals at the hypothermia venues.
- Engages guests through the provision of emergency supports such as food, clothing, hygiene supplies, and similar supports.
- Plans and coordinates life skills groups for hypothermia guests.
- Strong problem-solving skills in dealing with guests’ disputes, de-escalation as well as medical and behavioral challenges.
- Supports Hypothermia and Outreach Program operations.
- Guides community volunteers during scheduled shift at hypothermia venue.
- Works with onsite FACETS staff, County employees, and law enforcement staff.
- Conducts regular walk-through of venue and ensures accurate record keeping in venue logbook.
- Maintains an attitude of respect for the faith community venue.
- Participates in program staff meetings to share ideas and plans; works cooperatively with staff to meet FACETS goals.
- Participates in in-service training for staff development. Actively supports FACETS’ mission-oriented outcome evaluation and outcome management.
- Represents FACETS in the community, in accordance with Agency goals.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Experience and knowledge of the unique needs of homeless individuals, including the “chronically” homeless.
- Ability to maintain ethical boundaries and confidentiality of clients and accurate records.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, good driving record, and personal car insurance.
- Ability to drive a 15-passenger van.
- Criminal, CPS, DMV background checks required.
- Knowledge of services and programs available in Fairfax County is a significant plus.
- Patience, flexibility, persistence, and concern for the welfare and potential rehabilitation of each homeless individual.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds.
$20.00 per hour
