AWS Infrastructure Physical Security is seeking a highly talented and motivated Security Program Manager to join our team. The role oversees physical security design and installation of security features and systems—including access control, intrusion detection, camera surveillance, passive and active barriers—consistent with AWS security standards and public sector contract requirements. The program manager will support new data centers, logistics warehouses, data center expansions, and special security programs and projects.

The position is an individual contributor working with Cluster Security Managers (CSMs), the Data Center Engineering Operations Team, and other stakeholders to integrate business and operations requirements into long‑term physical security design and implementation. The role includes authoring security design documentation, managing vendor contracts, and ensuring industry‑leading systems are deployed and sustained.

Location:

Culpepper/Sevens burg, VA (50% local travel to sites within the DC Metro area). The role requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance with polygraph.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in physical security design and system installation for new data centers, expansions, and special projects.
  • Provide physical security project lifecycle management—including bid packages, specifications, drawings, code compliance, vendor management, budget, change orders, and close‑out documentation.
  • Manage vendor onboarding, RFP/RFQ bidding, contracting, contract execution, QA/QC, and support processes.
  • Accurately manage multi‑million dollar security project budgets and track financials.
  • Lead physical security team acceptance, sign‑off, and operational readiness validation for high security facilities.
  • Report performance metrics such as vendor service delivery performance, spend vs. budget variance, cost reduction goal attainment, defect rates, and program analysis.
  • Collaborate across teams to drive global, regional, and local security initiatives.
  • Support Cluster Security Managers with physical security analysis and recommend enhancements.
  • Travel frequently to AWS facilities throughout the Northern Virginia/DC Metro area and occasionally throughout the United States.
Basic Qualifications
  • Knowledge of MS Excel, AutoCAD, MS Project, Visio, Word, or PowerPoint.
  • 5+ years of program or project management experience, or a Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of cross‑functional experience with tech and non‑tech teams.
  • Experience in physical security design and implementation of access control, intrusion detection, and CCTV surveillance systems.
  • 2+ years working in a regulated industry (government, banking, health care) with audited and inspected physical security requirements.
  • Ability to travel frequently to AWS facilities in the Northern Virginia/DC Metro area.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and non‑technical audiences, including senior leadership.
  • Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
  • Familiarity with security equipment such as intrusion detection devices and access control systems.
  • 1+ year of cloud‑based solution (AWS or equivalent) experience, and understanding of systems, networks, and operating systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree or above.
  • Experience with project management, design, and construction software.
