Job Description:

Join a dedicated healthcare team at Fairfax Adult Detention Center, where your skills as a Registered Nurse (RN) make a meaningful impact on an underserved population. This position offers the opportunity to deliver essential nursing care in a secure, structured environment while supporting the health, safety, and dignity of individuals in custody. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team that values professionalism, consistency, and compassionate care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide routine and urgent nursing care to incarcerated individuals
• Administer medications and support management of chronic and acute conditions
• Conduct health assessments, monitor vital signs, and document all care accurately
• Respond to medical emergencies and assist during crisis interventions
• Collaborate with physicians, mental health providers, and correctional staff
• Educate patients on health maintenance, wellness, and disease management
• Adhere to facility policies, infection control standards, and all healthcare protocols

Qualifications:

• Current RN license in the state of Virginia
• Experience in skilled nursing or correctional healthcare preferred
• Current and active CPR/BLS certification
• TB screening (PPD, chest X - ray, or questionnaire as applicable)
• Must meet all federal, state, and local employment requirements
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Weekend availability required
• Ability to adapt and work effectively in a secure, fast - paced environment
