The Nurse Administrator supervises, leads, and coordinates nursing activities and nursing personnel. This position evaluates nursing activities to ensure patient care, staff relations and efficiency of service. The Nurse Manager coordinates all medical care and works closely with the Medical Director for all aspects of nursing and medical care of patients.
Essential Job Functions:
- Oversees nursing operations to uphold established mission, vision, core values, and strategic plan.
- Provides direct supervision and leadership to nursing staff.
- Develops training materials for nursing staff to include training videos and materials.
- Performs MAR audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Reviews any medication errors, to provide educational opportunities to staff.
- Participates in the utilization review process and communicates with the nursing team on related patient authorizations.
- Audits and ensures the med rooms are compliant with regulatory requirements.
- Consults with physicians, therapists, case managers, leadership and any others as needed.
- Performs chart audits to ensure accuracy and compliance with policy and regulatory requirements.
- Onboards new employees in the nursing department, validates competencies and ensures continuous training as required.
- Participation and follow up with any committee tasks.
- Monitors census within the facility and ensures appropriate nursing staffing in accordance with regulations.
- Must be able to effectively communicate with physicians regarding orders, care plans, medications, and provide guidance to nursing staff.
- Covers shifts when needed to ensure appropriate nursing coverage.
- Provides on-call support.
- Responds to emergencies 24-7.
Knowledge, Education, Experience:
- Must be a graduate of an approved nursing program with a current licensure from an appropriate state licensing board. RN preferred; LVN/LPN required. In programs that employ RN’s, RN licensure is required.
- * In the Eating Division, this position an RN is required.
- Preferred:
Experience as a staff nurse, preferably in the field of chemical dependency, eating disorders and/or behavioral health. - Knowledge of industry standards: organization, theory, principles, and research processes, accreditation and regulatory standards, ability to assess clinical care requirements based on nursing principles, scope of practice.
- Basic knowledge and understanding of substance use disorders and addiction, eating disorders and behavioral health.
- Familiar with behavior change, recovery models, and treatment methods
- Knowledge of medications, indications, dosage ranges, side effects, and potential toxicity.
Employment Status: Full Time Work Location: On Site - Fairfax, VA Compensation:
Pay Range: $84,000-$90,000 annually
