Nurse Practitioner - Inpatient Pediatric Neurology Inpatient Advanced Practice Provider Overview
Pediatric Specialists of Virginia (PSV) division of Pediatric Neurology is seeking to hire an Advanced Practice Provider for our inpatient Pediatric Neurology consult service at the Inova L. J. Murphy Children’s Hospital. This role will be working a majority In-Patient and some days Out-Patient and one weekend a month.
Inova L. J. Murphy Children's Hospital is a 226 bed, award-winning, full-service children’s hospital devoted to the healthcare of infants, children and adolescents in the Northern Virginia area. The primary role will be to provide support for the consult service with an attending Pediatric Neurologist. This is a full‑time inpatient position to join our existing group of six Pediatric Neurologists and four APPs.
Responsibilities- Works in conjunction and under the supervision of a Pediatric Neurologist as a consult with primary teams to help manage patients with acute and chronic pediatric neurological diseases.
- Consults on patients in NICU, PICU, General Hospitalist services, Hematology-Oncology, Trauma services.
- Performs and documents comprehensive health histories and physical assessments.
- Formulates diagnoses, identifies problems, documents and clearly communicates with other members of the primary services.
- Participates in care coordination with primary services.
- The position is day shift Monday through Friday with some flexibility with weekend hours. No night call responsibilities.
- Education:
Graduate of an accredited graduate school of nursing or physician assistant program with a master’s degree. - Experience:
Previous inpatient experience. - Licensure:
License or license eligible as an Advance Practice Provider as set forth by the state of Virginia. Must demonstrate and maintain all credentialing and licensing requirements of INOVA Health System, the Virginia Board of Medicine or the Virginia Board of Nursing, and appropriate certifying bodies.
- 3-5 years experience with pediatric patients and inpatient units as Registered Nurse or Nurse Practitioner.
