Insight Memory Care Center (IMCC) is looking for volunteers who would like to make an impact in the lives of older adults who have memory impairments such as Dementia or Alzheimer's.
We are seeking compassionate and dependable volunteers to support our staff and participants across a variety of programs and departments. Volunteers play a vital role in creating a warm, engaging, and enriching environment for our participants. Our volunteers help under the supervision of an IMCC team member at all times. Volunteers may be asked to assist with engaging participants (in activities, games, and conversations), assisting with arts/crafts/music/recreational programs, supporting with social dining, helping with special events and celebrations and offering companionship and social interaction.
Departments& Activity Areas
Volunteers may choose to support one or more of the following areas:
- Day Center Activities & Recreation
- Early Stage Activities & Recreation
- Social Work
- Education and Support
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Compassionate, patient, and respectful
- Reliable and able to commit to a regular schedule (preferred)
- Comfortable interacting with older adults with memory impairments
- Ability to follow center policies and confidentiality guidelines
- Meaningful volunteer experience
- Training and orientation provided
- Flexible scheduling
- Supportive and welcoming team environment
- Community service hours (if needed)
Insight Memory Care Center is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit whose mission is to provide specialized care, support and education for individuals with Alzheimer's disease and other memory impairments, their families, caregivers, and the community through our adult day health and resource center. Serving Northern Virginia since 1984, IMCC offers a spectrum of holistic care, education and support, with a vision of a community where those affected by memory impairments can achieve the highest quality of life.
IMCC also provides a safe and therapeutic environment for people in all stages of dementia. A vital part of IMCC is providing a well‑rounded therapeutic recreation program that meets the physical, cognitive and social needs of each participant.
