Job Summary

The Area Manager serves as an integral member of the PEG Field Operations Management Team, overseeing site operations and personnel across the state of Virginia. This role is directly responsible for implementing and maintaining the systems, procedures, and field standards that ensure all structures are inspected in accordance with client program requirements, RESNET guidelines, defined inspection timelines, and overall company and client satisfaction goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Personnel Management:
    Recruit, interview, and support hiring of assigned personnel; ensure comprehensive training; conduct 90‑Day and One‑Year Growth Reviews; address employee questions; minimize turnover; manage terminations; recognize high performers.
  • Start Process:
    Monitor construction activity to ensure inspections are completed within client program parameters; ensure accuracy and completeness of all information submitted within client programs.
  • Scheduling:
    Constantly monitor the weekly construction schedule; provide training to improve use; evaluate client programs; monitor scheduling productivity; monitor client programs for assigned Field Engineers.
  • Quality Control:
    Establish and enforce quality standards; ensure adherence to client processes and PEG Programs; assist in resolution of client issues; ensure timely submission of documentation; review inspection reports; review QA progress monthly; assist in completing requirements for PEG’s QA Programs.
  • Site Management:
    Ensure site personnel maintain standards, enforce PEG’s safety program, maintain equipment, and communicate client job site rules.
  • Contractors:
    Maintain relationships between contractors and clients; enforce client processes; solicit feedback; make final decisions on issues; ensure subcontractor training.
  • Client Satisfaction:
    Resolve client conflicts; follow up after inspections; review client feedback; document conversations; ensure client expectations are met; assist with ongoing issues.
  • Systems:
    Ensure adherence to company systems; monitor new and existing systems; recommend improvements.
  • Management Planning:
    Assist in staffing planning; continually network to maintain a qualified candidate and contractor base.
  • Continuing

    Education:

    Assess training needs; provide internal/external training; develop action plans and improve programs.
  • Miscellaneous:
    Stay current on codes; improve efficiency; manage costs; ensure documentation is processed; maintain working knowledge; track Field Engineer equipment; coordinate supplies; report major client issues; perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
  • 5+ years of work experience in residential construction (required).
  • 3+ years as a HERS Rater or similar position (preferred).
  • 2+ years managing a team of 5+ employees (preferred).
  • RESNET HERS Rater and ACCA 310 HVAC Grading Certifications (required, obtained within first 90 days).
  • RESNET Quality Assurance Designee (QAD) Certification (required, within first year).
  • BPI, NATE, ICC, and/or IECC certification (helpful).
Additional Requirements
  • Valid driver’s license with insurable driving record; successful background check.
  • Familiarity with camera documentation using iPad/iPhone; proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and SharePoint.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces with high temperatures; capable of climbing, balancing, kneeling, crawling; lift up to 50 lbs unassisted; perform duties in extreme weather; operate hand/power tools.
  • Strong verbal and written communication; resolve schedule conflicts; convey technical info in plain language.
  • Personable, well‑groomed, self‑motivated, enthusiastic, dependable, organized, detail‑oriented, reporting accuracy, data entry, time management; deadline oriented.
