Associate Attorney

Northern Virginia Association of REALTORS is seeking an Associate Attorney with a deep understanding of Real Estate law and best practices in Virginia.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in real estate law, excellent communication skills, and the ability to explain complex legal issues in a clear and concise manner.

• Provide accurate legal advice to the CEO and Board, ensuring operational compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
• Collaborate with the education team to ensure legal accuracy and regulatory compliance for CE, PLE, and specialty courses in VA, MD, and DC.
• Manage the legal hotline, ensuring timely communication and accurate reporting/documentation.
• Oversee association and corporate legal matters, including filings, meeting minutes, trademark/copyright protections, and outside counsel coordination.
• Support state agency engagement on instructor certification and licensing approvals.
• Prepare and create legal content for articles, blogs, videos, etc. on trending topics that are relevant and informative to members.

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree required.
• Licensed attorney in Virginia (required).
• Active Bar membership in good standing (Virginia required).
• 3-5 years of experience in the real estate industry working directly with clients and members.
• Strong background working directly with clients or members.
• Experience in public speaking, teaching, and writing.

A competitive salary range of $100,000-$115,000 yearly, determined by experience and proven ability.
