Overview
We are seeking an immediate hire. Position is for a compassionate and dedicated Consumer Bankruptcy Attorney to join our practice. This role is designed for a legal professional who is driven by a genuine interest in helping individuals navigate financial hardship and achieve a fresh start. You will manage Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 cases, providing strategic legal counsel and empathetic support to clients throughout the bankruptcy process.
Responsibilities- Conduct initial consultations to evaluate financial situations and recommend appropriate bankruptcy options.
- Prepare and file bankruptcy petitions, schedules, and related court documents.
- Represent clients at 341 Meetings of Creditors and before the U.S. Bankruptcy Court.
- Communicate regularly with clients to provide updates and guidance on their cases.
- Negotiate with creditors and trustees to protect client interests.
- Licensure: Must be an active member in good standing with the Virginia State Bar.
- Experience: Previous experience in consumer bankruptcy is preferred, but we are willing to train candidates who demonstrate a strong passion for this practice area.
- Federal Admission: Admission to the United States District Court for the Eastern or Western District of Virginia is highly preferable; candidates willing to obtain admission immediately upon hire will also be considered.
- Skills: Exceptional communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage a high-volume caseload with empathy.
