VHO, Inc. is seeking a full-time, on-site Licensed Therapist to join our team in Fairfax, VA. This role is primarily clinically focused, with the main responsibility of providing mental health counseling to our community in both individual and group settings. The Licensed Therapist will join a team that is friendly and relaxed while also being deeply mission driven. Empathy, open-mindedness, and client-centered care are our core values.

The Licensed Therapist will maintain a roster of clients, conduct comprehensive psychosocial and mental health assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, and provide ongoing counseling and crisis intervention as needed.
The ideal candidate understands the intersection of mental health, sexuality, trauma, chronic illness, and social determinants of health and would be comfortable meeting underserved populations where they are at, with their personal mental health goals in mind, while working with our team to make VHO, Inc. a safe, healing space for those who may otherwise not have one.
Key Responsibilities- Provide individual mental health counseling and therapeutic interventions to clients
- Conduct biopsychosocial and behavioral health assessments
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans
- Provide crisis intervention, short-term therapy, and referrals for higher levels of care when appropriate
- Collaborate with medical providers and interdisciplinary team members to support integrated care
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in compliance with Ryan White and organizational requirements
- Support clients in addressing psychosocial barriers that impact health outcomes and treatment adherence
- Organize, promote, and lead mental health support group sessions for clients
- Attend and complete trainings related to HIV care services
- Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) or related field.
- Mental Health or Psychology Licensure/Certification
- Strong foundation in mental health assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based therapeutic interventions
- Experience providing counseling to individuals with chronic medical conditions, trauma histories, or behavioral health needs
- Experience working with underserved or marginalized populations, including people living with HIV, preferred
- Knowledge of Ryan White services and HIV care systems is a plus
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and clinical documentation skills
- Familiarity with community-based behavioral health and support resources in VA, MD, and DC
- Ability to work collaboratively within a supportive, respectful, and compassionate interdisciplinary team
- Bilingual is a plus
- Salary range: $75,000–$85,000 annually, depending on experience
