Position: Part-Time Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA)

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) to join our dynamic healthcare team. The SLPA will work under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide therapeutic interventions and support to clients in speech-related goals. This role is crucial in helping individuals regain independence and enhance their quality of life. The SLPA will be responsible for implementing treatment plans developed by the Speech-Language Pathologist.

This includes direct client care, documentation, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. The SLPA will play a vital role in client skill acquisition and progress.

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Assist the SLP in providing skilled speech therapy services to clients in a center-based setting
  • Implement individualized treatment plans as directed by the supervising SLP
  • Communicate effectively with clients, families, and other professionals regarding client progress and goals
  • Monitor client progress, document subjective and objective findings, and report changes in client status to the supervising SLP
  • Maintain accurate and timely client records, including daily notes, progress reports, and discharge summaries
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as Occupational Therapists, Board Certified Behavior Analysts and Behavior Technicians, to ensure comprehensive client care
  • Participate in team meetings, case reviews, and in-service training sessions
  • Adhere to all ethical and professional standards set forth by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and relevant state licensure boards
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment
  • Perform administrative tasks as needed to support the therapy department
  • Fill-in for one-to-one ABA Therapy sessions as needed
  • Due to the nature of working with young children, all clinical staff are required to change diapers, assist with toileting, and be able to physically work on the floor with children
Experiential & Certification Requirements
  • Degree from an accredited Speech-Language Pathology Assistant program or a Bachelors degree in communication sciences and disorders
  • Valid SLP-A license or certification in state(s) of hire or eligibility to obtain
  • Previous experience working with individuals with communication disorders, preferably in a clinical or educational setting
  • Strong understanding of speech and language development and common communication disorders
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Experience with early intervention and working with children with autism
  • Willingness to obtain a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification
  • Strong clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit on the floor, kneel, crawl, squat, run or stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to reach and hold objects
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds
