Vice President, Administrator, Inova’s Office of Medical Staff Services Job Description

Shape the Future of Physician and APP Experience at Inova

Inova is seeking a visionary, relationship-driven leader to serve as Vice President & Administrator of the Office of Medical Staff Services (OMSS). This enterprise-wide leadership role offers a unique opportunity to design, align, and elevate the experience for physicians and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs)—both employed and independent—across one of the nation’s leading integrated health systems. This role is a high-impact, strategic position for a leader who thrives on collaboration, builds trust across diverse stakeholders, and excels at bringing complex, cross-functional work together to create seamless physician support and measurable system value.

As the senior administrator for OMSS, you will oversee and advance a broad portfolio of physician- and APP-facing services, including the Clinically Integrated Network (CIN), Accountable Care Organizations (ACO), Managed Services Organization (MSO), and core operational support functions. You will lead the operational execution of non-clinical physician services across Inova in close partnership with service lines, system services, Inova Care Infrastructure, and Centers of Excellence (COEs).

You will also play a critical role in helping Inova succeed in a rapidly evolving healthcare environment—supporting value-based care, strengthening network performance, reducing administrative friction, and improving physician alignment across the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities Enterprise Leadership & Strategy
  • Serve as senior administrator for OMSS, translating system and CIN strategy into scalable programs, workflows, and service models
  • Lead enterprise-wide execution of physician and APP support services in collaboration with clinical, operational, and system leaders
  • Operate within a matrixed environment, ensuring alignment and shared accountability across COEs and system partners
Operational Oversight
  • Oversees or partners with OMSS day-to-day operations, including:
    • CIN & ACO network performance, engagement, quality, and outcomes
    • Contracting
    • Credentialing and Central Verification Office (CVO)
    • Physician onboarding
    • OMSS Relationship Managers
    • MSO and vended service offerings
Physician Experience & Process Transformation
  • Lead end-to-end process redesign to achieve best in class timelines for credentialing and onboarding
  • Align workflows across payor credentialing, hospital privileging, CVO, and medical staff offices
  • Improve physician onboarding to ensure a seamless, well-orchestrated experience from day one
  • Expand MSO offerings, including EMR support (e.g., Epic), and develop market-ready service packages
  • Develop and monitor performance metrics, service standards, and SLAs across OMSS and MSO offerings
  • Ensure services consistently meet practice needs and enterprise expectations
  • Work with the CIN and ACO to drive quality and financial performance in value-based care contracts
Partnership & Governance
  • Partner closely with physician leadership to ensure alignment with system strategy, governance, and compliance requirements
  • Collaborate with HR, IT, Analytics, and Inova Care Infrastructure to optimize systems, reporting, and operational integration
  • Support CIN and network governance activities with timely communication and follow-through
Minimum Qualifications
  • 3 years of progressive administrative and operational experience within a service line or clinical department in which the position required in-depth capabilities in major administrative leadership responsibilities
  • 7 years of experience in progressive administrative leadership roles successfully managing a complex health and patient care delivery setting
  • Education – Master’s of Business Administration, Public Health or Health Care Administration or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Has led large, cross-functional initiatives within complex health systems or networks
  • Proven operational experience managing or supporting Clinically Integrated Networks, ACOs, and value-based care models.
  • Has working knowledge of physician alignment strategies, community-based practice environments, and payer relationships
