Radiologic Technologist

Overview

Radiologic Technologist (Rad Tech) role at Inova Health. This is a Full-Time Day shift (40 hours/week) with sign-on bonus and relocation assistance eligible.

• Demonstrates a thorough understanding of radiologic principles, theory, anatomy, and pathology; utilizes appropriate techniques and positioning for optimal examinations and adheres to department policies and protocols to optimize examinations for interpretation.
• Operates radiological equipment in all care settings (e.g., fluoroscopy, trauma, Emergency Department, Operating Room) and applies radiation protection procedures with collimation and shielding.
• Operates Imaging and related equipment per manufacturers  specifications; demonstrates proper technique for IV contrast injections under American College of Radiology guidelines.
• Assists in teaching radiography students on radiography principles.
• Communicates effectively with patients to obtain clinical history, explain procedures, obtain informed consent, and ease anxiety; correctly identifies patients and files and tracks patients according to department procedures.
• Assists physicians in performing examinations following standard protocols, isolation precautions, and sterile techniques; recognizes and address clinical or emergent problems to achieve desirable outcomes.

• Education:
  
  Graduate of an accredited school/program of radiography
• Licensure: ARRT registered as a Radiologic Technologist within 12 months of hire
• Certification:
  Basic Life Support (American Heart Association)
• Experience:
  
  One year of combined classroom and clinical radiology training; recent hospital/healthcare experience as Radiologic Technologist or student
