Position: Senior Linux Infrastructure Engineer (RHEL)

Overview

Peraton is seeking a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Systems Engineer in our Chantilly, VA office in support of our DoD Community customer as part of a highly talented, highly motivated, and high-performing team. As part of the systems engineering team, you will support a program which involves design, development, test, and deployment of a complex system in an Agile construct to contribute to mission success for a variety of stakeholders.

What

you’ll do
  • Work closely with DoD customer and stakeholders throughout system lifecycle in development, integration & test, deployment, and operations of a highly sophisticated ground system architecture.
  • Help build mission-critical, highly available, high-performance networked systems in a team-oriented environment. Build and deploy cloud instances and applications utilizing automation tools to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
  • Develop deployment and maintenance Ansible playbooks for automating rapid installation and system patching within multiple large-scale environments.
  • Develop systems engineering-related documentation to include operational concept, requirements, specifications, interface control documents, and validation & verification plans.
  • Conduct system planning and design for expansion of these resources to meet program needs.
  • Support ground system related trade studies.
Qualifications
  • Associates degree and 10+ years of experience in a Systems Engineering related field; OR bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field and 8+ years of experience in a Systems Engineering related field; or a master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field and 6+ years of experience in a Systems Engineering related field. Additional four (4) years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum of Top-Secret clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SCI and the candidate must maintain the clearance.
  • Possess certifications, training, and/or experience in compliance with DoD 8140 for the position held, or be working toward certification.
  • Direct experience with Linux and Windows-based operating systems.
  • Experience installing, configuring, and deploying services from scratch, including configuration of security, certificate, and authentication settings.
  • Ability to use scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Ansible for task automation across multiple physical and/or virtual hosts.
  • Direct experience with Ansible for system configuration, including building and editing playbooks.
  • Experience with host/application integration into an Identity and Access Management (IDAM) system such as Active Directory, FreeIPA, or similar system.
  • OS administration skills for RHEL 7.x and above, including building systems from bare metal, software installation/updates, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience in security hardening, patching, and vulnerability management, including working with SELinux and leveraging automation tools.
  • Demonstrated experience creating virtual machine templates and hands-on experience with virtualization technologies such as Open Stack, Azure, Citrix Xen Server, Red Hat Virtualization, and/or VMware.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with Red Hat tools, including Red Hat Open Stack, Open Shift, and Satellite.
  • Experience with containers (Docker, Podman, Kubernetes).
  • Experience using system monitoring tools and log/data aggregation (e.g., Splunk, Nagios, Sensu).
  • Experience designing, developing, and integrating a satellite ground system including infrastructure, processing frameworks, and software components.
  • Familiarity with technologies such as object-oriented development, open architecture systems, distributed computing, web services, SOA, networking, scripting, automated testing, modeling and simulation, and security certification and accreditation processes.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to collaborate with management, the customer, and DoD stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented, with the ability to multi-task and work with minimal supervision.
