CGS is seeking an experienced Comm Vault Data Protection Engineer with extensive knowledge and experience designing, developing, configuring, implementing, testing, troubleshooting, deploying, and supporting backup and recovery technical solutions for a large‑scale federal government enterprise environment.

$/yr – $/yr (CGS Federal pay range)

• Design, develop, configure, integrate, and secure complex backup, recovery, and storage solutions over WAN in geographically dispersed environments, ranging from single servers to multi‑tier, multi‑platform solutions utilizing the Commvault enterprise backup platform.
• Create and maintain optimal backup, restore, and redundancy solutions for critical data, including primary/auxiliary copies and VM‑based backups; plan and participate in scheduled maintenance of the backup/recovery infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot complex backup and recovery problems involving networking, application, server, hardware, and appliance issues.
• Provide analytics, usage reporting, capacity planning, and reporting within the Commvault management and monitoring solution.
• Implement regular security updates and patches to backup application servers and appliances in accordance with federal standards.
• Collaborate with operations teams to develop and support enterprise infrastructure processes, tools, and environments ensuring timely response to backup, restore, and data replication requests.

• Strong knowledge of Commvault data protection application.
• Experience with LAN, WAN, Microsoft Windows Servers, Linux, and SQL databases.
• Experience applying DISA STIGs to Commvault‑related systems.
• Experience performing security‑related tasks such as documentation, vulnerability scans, assessment support, patch management, and auditing.

• Comm Vault Certified Engineer.
• Working knowledge of SAN and cloud storage systems (EMC Unity, PURE Storage).
• Federal agency‑issued security clearance.
