Job Description

Dewberry has an excellent opportunity for a National Levee Design Leader with at least 15 years of geotechnical engineering experience with an emphasis on the design and construction of flood risk management structures in coastal and riverine environments.

The candidate will also serve as Dewberry's national geotechnical lead on planning, engineering, and construction of large-scale flood resilience and water related projects, including levees, flood walls, dams, marine structures and others. They will participate in the development of proposals, lead business development, present at conferences, participate in professional organizations, and have the opportunity to grow nationally.

The candidate will be involved in growing the existing team of geotechnical engineers across the enterprise and play a critical role in supporting Dewberry's Resilience Growth Initiative.

Responsibilities
  • Perform engineering analysis and develop preliminary and detailed design of flood risk management system components such as levees, flood walls, weirs, flood‑control channels, seawalls, etc.
  • Be the geotechnical engineer of record on projects.
  • Support leadership in developing a multidisciplinary team that delivers flood‑resilience projects.
  • Develop strong client relationships.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams on large design projects.
  • Lead strategy and capture planning for large design projects.
  • Manage, lead, execute, or provide technical support for resilience, water resources, and hazard mitigation projects in municipal, regional, and federal markets.
  • Communicate with clients, establish goals and objectives for project teams, schedule and coordinate resources to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to client performance expectations.
Required Skills & Experience
  • BS in Civil Engineering (geotechnical emphasis), MS or PhD preferred.
  • At least 15 years of experience in flood resilience, flood control, and water resources.
  • Professional Engineer license and ability to apply for reciprocity in various states.
  • Progressive experience conducting business development and project delivery on flood resilience and flood control projects, especially for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
  • Demonstrated experience as the geotechnical engineer of record.
  • Knowledge of USACE, FEMA and similar agency standards and procedures for design.
  • Knowledge of coastal, riverine and offshore marine engineering is a plus.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills.
  • Experience using CAD programs such as AutoCAD, Micro Station, and others.
  • Experience using Geotechnical Design programs such as Geo Studio, CWALSH, CTShoring, Ensoft suite, HELIX, Deep Ex and others.
  • Clean driving record required.
