Purpose The Team Lead will take a leadership role within the engineering team to provide engineering and design services to clients and will coordinate with engineers, project managers, clients and other disciplines to deliver on-schedule and on-budget projects. Train and mentor junior staff, manage workload for the team, and lead the engineering and production team through the planning and design of civil engineering projects.

Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and direction to the engineering team, aligning with senior management objectives and policy matters. Manage people and processes to ensure effective execution and review staff work for quality assurance.
  • Assist with marketing the firm’s capabilities to establish new clients and enhance relationships with existing developers, builders, and government agencies.
  • Execute projects through administration, technical and management techniques to ensure successful completion on time and within budget.
  • Effectively execute project contracts and develop internal staff capabilities.
  • Develop processes and contribute to achieving operational excellence while growing the region and office.
  • Stay informed of new methods and developments and recommend changes in program emphasis.
  • Represent the organization and maintain liaison with individuals and related organizations.
  • Drive profitability and growth of projects.
Do the Work
  • Apply knowledge gained through progressive experience to resolve crucial issues and unique conditions.
  • Manage competing demands and establish priorities for staff.
  • Responsible for client interaction, including preparation of new contract proposals, change orders, attending or leading project meetings.
  • Lead and manage current project teams from bid to completion, while pursuing future business and performing project duties.
  • Mentor and direct junior staff, coordinate with project managers, and manage goal setting and performance of the engineering team.
  • Review project changes and alterations to contracts, additional work requests, and factors affecting staffing or budget.
  • Provide technical assistance in design problem resolution, field investigations, and coordination of design aspects.
  • Act as a technical specialist for the organization in an assigned area when needed.

  • Ability to lead and develop an engineering and project management team.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related discipline.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Ten or more (10+) years of engineering or related land development experience, including at least five (5) years managing multiple complex large-scale land development projects (commercial, residential, municipal).
  • Experience with water/wastewater systems, water treatment, water distribution, pump stations and operations.
