Safety Manager

We are currently in search of a Safety Manager – on site to join our Fairfax, VA office. This field-based position provides support to ongoing and upcoming Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) projects.

This role is responsible for ensuring strict adherence to MWAA’s Safety and Health Requirements as well as all federal, state, and local safety regulations.

• Serve as Safety Manager reporting directly to the Senior Project Manager. This includes ensuring that the job site complies with all federal, state, local and project specific safety laws.
• Carry out all activities in relation to the implementation, maintenance and monitoring of the corporate safety program, MWAA Construction Safety manual and site- specific safety plan.
• Conduct regular airside and project site tours with the Program Safety Manager, COTR, and authorized MWAA representatives.
• Ensure subcontractor compliance with all site
  -specific safety standards, codes and regulations.
• Assist with managing project schedule.
• Assist with site access including all site visits and deliveries.
• Develop, maintain and oversee all safety training and site-specific worker orientation.
• Submit weekly and bi-weekly safety reports, meeting minutes, attendance sheets, disciplinary notices, and all required submittals to the COTR/PSM.

• Must have at least 10 years’ experience managing construction safety programs.
• Airport experience preferred but not required.
• 10-Hour OSHA and 30-Hour OSHA
• OSHA 500 AND /510 Certification
• Strong knowledge of OSHA 1910/1926, VOSH Unique Standards, and MWAA Construction Safety Manual requirements.
• CPR and First Aid Certification
• Must possess a valid current driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to develop, lead, and enforce comprehensive safety programs on complex, multi-phase projects.
• Proven experience writing and managing site-specific Safety & Health Plans, JHAs, emergency plans, and hot-work permitting.
• Strong subcontractor relations.
• Excellent safety record.
• Proven track record of bringing projects to finish on time with customer approval.
